Vehicle Features and Options

This chapter describes all standard, country-specific and optional features offered with the series. It also describes features and functions that are not necessarily available in your vehicle, e.g., due to the selected options or country versions. This also applies to safety-related functions and systems. When using these functions and systems, the applicable laws and regulations must be observed.

Chassis components

The chassis components are optimized for the vehicle and its application range and thereby ensure the best possible Driving Dynamics.

Adaptive M chassis

Principle
The Adaptive M chassis is an intelligent, controllable sport chassis.
The chassis reduces body movements with a sporty driving style or on an uneven road.

General information
The intelligent control of the chassis increases the driving dynamics and driving comfort depending on the road condition and driving style.

Tuning
The system offers different shock absorber settings ranging from comfortable travel to sporty driving.

The shock absorbers are adjusted depending on the selected driving mode as well as the road condition and driving style.

Performance Control
Performance Control enhances the agility of the vehicle.
To increase maneuverability, wheels are braked individually when a sporty driving style is used.

Engine sound
Depending on the equipment and national market version, you may be able to configure the sound of the engine.

  1. “CAR”
  2. “Settings”
  3. “General settings”
  4. “Engine sound”
  5. Select the desired setting.

Climate control
Vehicle features and options

This chapter describes all standard, country-specific, and optional features offered by the series. Air quality

General information
The air quality in the interior is improved by the following components:

  • Emission-tested passenger compartment.
  • Interior filter.
  • Air conditioning system to control the temperature, airflow, and recirculated-air mode.
  • Preventilation.
    Depending on the equipment: Automatic recirculated air control.

Interior filter
Depending on the equipment, the interior filter cleans the inflowing outside air and improves the air quality:

  1. Dust and pollen is filtered out from the inflowing air.
    Nano-particle emissions are reduced.
  2. Gaseous pollutants are filtered.
  3. Microbial particles and allergens are filtered.

Some of the functions can also be used via voice, e.g., temperature.
Switching climate control functions on/off

Turning on
Press one of the following buttons:

  1. Temperature.
  2. Air conditioning.
  3. Maximum cooling.
  4. AUTO program.
  5. Air recirculation mode.
  6. Air flow, manual.
  7. Air distribution, manual.
  8. Defrosting the windshield

Turning off

Complete system:
Press the button until the automatic cli‐mate control switches off.

Temperature

Principle
The automatic climate control cools or heats to the configured temperature and then keeps the temperature constant.

  • Setting the temperature

 

Using the button:
Press the upper or lower button side to set the desired temperature.

Via iDrive:

  1. “CAR”
  2. “Settings”
  3. “Climate control”
  4. “Heating/ventilation”
  5.  “Driver”
  6. “Temperature:”
  7. Set the desired temperature.

Do not rapidly switch between different temperature settings. Otherwise, the automatic climate control will not have sufficient time to adjust the set temperature.

Air conditioning

Principle
The air in the car’s interior will be cooled and de‐humidified and, depending on the temperature setting, warmed again.

Functional requirement
The car’s interior can only be cooled with the drive-ready state switched on.
Switch the climate control function on/off

Press the button.

The LED is illuminated when the climate control function is switched on.
Depending on the weather, the windshield, and the side windows may fog up briefly when the drive-ready state is switched on.
Air conditioning is switched on automatically with the AUTO program.
When using the cooling mode, condensation will exit below the vehicle.
