Instrument cluster illumination intensity and interior backlit display brightness on the 2023 Subaru Impreza are regulated by rheostat dimmer thumbwheel switches, body control module (BCM) pulse-width modulation, and ambient light sensors.
How to Fix It:

Locate Dimmer Switch: Find the instrument panel illumination thumbwheel located on the lower left side of the dashboard panel near the driver's left knee.

Adjust Brightness Level: Roll the thumbwheel upward to brighten the gauge cluster and interior switch backlighting, or downward to dim the lights for comfortable night driving.

Listen for Click Detent: Roll the thumbwheel all the way up until it clicks into the maximum position to force the combination meter lights to stay at maximum brightness regardless of whether the headlights are turned on.
