The Auto Rev-Match System on manual transmission 2022 Honda Civic models uses engine management sensors to automatically blip the throttle pedal when downshifting, matching engine RPM to wheel speed for smooth clutch engagement without heel-and-toe pedal work.
If the rev-matching system stops functioning, it is usually caused by menu setting overrides, clutch pedal sensor misadjustment, or neutral position switch faults.
How to Diagnose and Enable/Fix It:

Step 1: Check System Settings in iDrive/Touchscreen.

On the central touchscreen, select Settings > Vehicle.

Tap Drive Mode Customization or Rev Match System.

Ensure the setting is set to ON (You can select whether Rev-Match is active in Normal, Sport, or Individual modes).

Step 2: Inspect Clutch Position Switches. The manual clutch pedal arm uses two electrical switches (a top starter safety switch and a lower cruise control/rev-match engagement switch). If an aftermarket floor mat presses against the pedal or the lower switch plunger is sticking, the ECU cannot determine clutch pedal travel, turning off rev-match alerts.

Step 3: Check Gear Position Sensor Signals. The transmission transaxle houses an internal Gear Position Sensor (GPS) that tells the ECU which gear gear-stick is moving into. If an OBD-II scanner displays code P0820 (Gear Lever X-Y Position Sensor Circuit Fault), the sensor must be recalibrated or replaced.
Note: Auto rev-matching automatically turns off if the vehicle experiences an active Check Engine Light (MIL) or if battery voltage drops below 12.0 volts.
