2022 FORD F-150 Transmission Guidlines

Ford-logo2022 FORD F-150 Transmission

The dynamic performance and towing abilities of the 2022 Ford F-150 are made possible by a variety of transmission choices that are made to meet a wide range of driving needs. The F-150 has a number of high-tech gears, including a 10-speed automatic transmission. With ten gear ratios, this drive gets the most power, uses the least fuel, and can pull the most weight. Even though the F-150 doesn’t have a manual transmission choice, its automatic transmissions often have manual shift modes that let drivers change gears by hand if they want to. Adding a transmission cooler to a truck makes it better at towing big loads and keeps the truck running at the right temperature. Innovative features like Tow/Haul mode and selectable drive modes like Normal, Eco, and Sport make the F-150 even more adaptable to different driving situations. The 2022 F-150’s transmission options show that it is committed to giving drivers who want a reliable and capable pickup truck strong performance, fuel economy, and versatility, whether they are driving on city streets or hauling heavy loads.

Manual park release allows you to move your transmission out of the park (P) position in the event of an electrical malfunction or emergency.

MANUAL PARK RELEASE PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: When doing this procedure, you need to take the transmission out of park (P) which means your vehicle can roll freely. To avoid unwanted vehicle movement, always fully apply the parking brake prior to doing this procedure. Use wheels chocks if appropriate.
WARNING: If the parking brake is fully released, but the brake warning lamp remains illuminated, the brakes may not be working properly. Have your vehicle checked as soon as possible
WARNING: Do not drive your vehicle until you verify that the stoplamps are working. Use the manual park release to move your transmission from the park (P) position in the event of an electrical malfunction or emergency.
Note: Do not engage the manual park release with the engine on.

USING MANUAL PARK RELEASE

Activating the Manual Park Release Cable

  1. Apply the parking brake. See Electric
    • Note: If vehicle battery is dead, for example, no electrical power available, an external power source may be required to apply the parking brake.
  2. Locate the manual park release cable access cover at the bottom of the driver dash lower panel, under the steering wheel.2022-FORD-F-150-Transmission-FIG-1 (11)
  3. Carefully open the hinged access cover using a plastic type wedge or pry tool at the upper edge of the panel. If done correctly, the panel will swing downward.

Manual park release allows you to shift your vehicle out of park (P) in the event of an electrical malfunction or emergency.

MANUAL PARK RELEASE PRECAUTIONS
WARNING:
When doing this procedure, you need to take the transmission out of park (P) which means your vehicle can roll freely. To avoid unwanted vehicle movement, always fully apply the parking brake prior to doing this procedure. Use wheels chocks if appropriate.

WARNING: If the parking brake is fully released, but the brake warning lamp remains illuminated, the brakes may not be working properly. Have your vehicle checked as soon as possible.

WARNING: Do not drive your vehicle until you verify that the stop lamps are working.
