Tata Zest Fuses and Fuse Box Diagram User Guide

Tata FUSES Guide

Your vehicle has fuse boxes at three locations. The vehicles electrical circuits have fuses to protect the wiring from short circuits or sustained overload.

1. Battery Mounted Fuse Box.
2. Engine Compartment Fuse Box.
3. Cabin Compartment Fuse Box.

Checking and Replacing Fuses:
If any electrical unit in your vehicle is not functioning, check the fuses first. Please follow the steps below that will guide you to check and replace them .

• Turn the ignition key to the ‘LOCK’ position.
• Identify the defective fuse from its melted wire.
  
• Remove the blown fuse by “fuse puller”. The fuse puller is located in the Engine compartment fuse box.
• Replace the blown fuse with same rated “Spare Fuse”. (Spare fuses are located in the engine compart-ment fuse box.)

NOTE
Always ensure that the spare fuses are replenished.

• Ensure that all other fuses are pressed firmly in position.
• If the replaced fuse blows out in short time, there is probably an electrical problem in your vehicle. Get the vehicle attended to the nearest TATA MOTORS Authorised Service Centre immediately.

WARNING
The electrical system is protected by fuses that are designed to fail and prevent damage to wiring harness. Always replace blown fuse with the same rating as specified to prevent wiring damage that can result in a possible fire.

If Fuse box cover is removed for any reason, it should be refitted prop-erly at its original position.

CABIN COMPARTMENT FUSE BOX:

Cover removal procedure:
Fuse box is located inside the cover below steering column. To access the fuse box, remove cover as per procedure given below.

1. Fuse box cover is mounted on dash board with the help of 4 lugs on top and 2 plastic rivets at bottom.
   
2. To remove plastic rivets, first pull center pin and then rivet.
   
3. After removing rivets, slowly and carefully pull out cover from bottom to disengage top mounting lugs. Take out cover.
   

Re-fitment procedure:

1. Align and engage the top mounting lugs with respective slots on dash board and gently press.
   
2. Similarly align the bottom rivet mounting holes and insert rivets and press center pin to lock.

NOTE
Pull the center pin of rivet before fitment

How to Replace the Fuses of the Tata Zest

Replacing the fuses in your Tata Zest is a straightforward process, but it’s important to follow the proper steps to ensure safety and that you replace the correct fuse. Here’s how you can do it:

Materials:

1. The new fuse of the correct amperage.
2. Fuse puller or needle-nose pliers.

Step-by-Step Fuse Replacement

1. Locate the Fuse Box:

   • Interior Fuse Box: Under the dashboard on the driver’s side.

   • Engine Compartment Fuse Box: Near the battery, in a black plastic box with a cover.

2. Open the Fuse Box Cover:

   • Use your hands to open the plastic cover. The inside of the cover usually has a fuse diagram showing which fuse controls what.

3. Identify the Blown Fuse:

   • A blown fuse has a melted or broken metal strip inside.

   • Use the fuse chart to locate the fuse for the malfunctioning system (e.g., lights, horn, power windows).

4. Remove the Blown Fuse:

   • Use a fuse puller or tweezers to gently pull it out.

5. Replace with a New Fuse:

   • Insert a new fuse of the same amperage rating (e.g., 10A, 15A, 20A).

   • The rating is usually marked on the top of the fuse and color-coded.

6. Close the Fuse Box Cover:

   • Snap the cover back securely in place.

7. Turn on Ignition and Test:

   • Check if the replaced system (e.g., headlight or wiper) works properly.

8. Tips:
   Always use a fuse with the correct amperage rating to prevent electrical issues or damage to the vehicle.
