Toyota Indicator/warning lights Guide
Concept
Indicator/warning lights in the instrument cluster display the status of some functions in the vehicle and indicate when a malfunction is present in the monitored systems.
General information
The indicator/warning lights can light up in a variety of combina-tions and colors. Several of the lights are checked for proper functioning and light up temporarily when drive-ready state is switched on.
Red lights
Safety belt warning
Safety belt on the driver or passenger side is not buckled. The safety belt warning can also be activated if heavy objects are placed on the front passenger seat. Make sure that the seat belts are positioned correctly.
Airbag system
Parking brake
The parking brake is set. For releasing the park-ing brake, refer to page 125.
Brake system
The brake pads are worn or there is another issue with the brake system. The braking assistance may not be be operational. A higher pedal force may be required for the braking process. Have the vehicle checked immediately by your Toyota dealer.
General risk of collision
Yellow lights
Anti-lock Braking System ABS
The system may not be operational. The Anti-lock Braking Sys-tem is not available. The ability to steer may be restricted during full braking. Have checked immedi-ately by your Toyota dealer. Anti-lock Braking Sys-tem ABS, refer to page 201.
VSC Vehicle Stability Con-trol System
Warning light flashes: VSC is regulating the drive and brake power. The vehicle is stabi-lized. Reduce the vehi-cle speed and adjust your driving style to the road conditions. Warning light illumi-nates: VSC has failed or is being initialized. Driving stability is restricted or has failed. If the warning light illu-minates continuously, have the vehicle checked immediately by your Toyota dealer. VSC, refer to page 203.
VSC Vehicle Stability Con-trol System is deactivated or Traction mode is activated
Tire Pressure Monitor TPM
Warning light illumi-nates: Flat tire or tire pressure loss has been detected. Follow the information in the Check Control mes-sage. Warning light flashes then illuminates contin-uously: Flat tires or tire pressure losses cannot be detected.
- Interference caused by systems or devices with the same radio fre-quency: after leaving the area of the inter-ference, the system automatically becomes active again.
A wheel without TPM wheel electronics is mounted: have it checked by your Toy-ota dealer as needed.
Malfunction: have the system checked by your Toyota dealer.

Steering system
Steering system may not be working. Have the system checked by your Toyota dealer.
Exhaust emissions
- The warning light illu-minates:
Worsening exhaust emissions, e.g., due to an incorrectly fitted fuel cap. Have the vehicle checked as soon as possible. - The warning light flashes under certain circumstances:
This indicates that there is excessive mis-firing in the engine.
Reduce the vehicle speed and have the system checked imme-diately; otherwise, seri-ous engine misfiring within a brief period can seriously damage emission control com-ponents, in particular the catalytic converter. Green lights
Turn signal
Turn signal switched on. Unusually rapid flash-ing of the indicator light indicates that a turn sig-nal bulb has failed. Turn signal, refer to page 126.
Parking lights
Parking lights are switched on. Parking lights/low beams, refer to page 160.
Low beams
Lane departure warning
Depending on vehicle equipment and national-market ver-sion: The indicator light lights up: the system is switched on. A lane boundary has been detected on at least one side of the vehicle and the system is ready to intervene. Warnings will be issued. Automatic high-beam
Automatic high-beam is switched on. High beams are switched on and off automatically depend-ing on the traffic situa-tion. Automatic high-beam, refer to page 162.
Cruise Control

Blue lights

Fuel gauge
Concept
The current fill level of the fuel tank is displayed.

Display
Indicator light in the instrument cluster
The yellow indicator light illuminates, once the fuel reserve is reached.
Tachometer
Always avoid engine speeds in the red warning field. In this range, the fuel supply is reduced to protect the engine.

Shift lights
Concept
Depending on the vehicle equip-ment, the shift position indica-tors on the instrument cluster indicates the maximum shift point at which the best possible acceleration can be achieved.
General information
Depending on the equipment and nationalmarket version, the Shift lights are active in the sport mode of the Automatic transmis-sion and with manual transmis-sion.
Functional requirement
When the selected driving mode is sport mode, a shift light will be displayed.
Switching on shift lights
Automatic transmission:
- Select SPORT using the sport mode switch.
- Activate manual mode of the transmission.
