2024 Mini Cooper Head-Up Display User Guide

A sophisticated full-color head-up display that subtly projects speed, navigational cues, and critical driving data onto a flip-up perspex panel is a feature of the 2024 MINI Cooper. Without taking away from driving, it guarantees safer, more intuitive driving.

MINI Head-up display Guide

Principle
The Head-up display projects important in-formation in the driver’s field of view, for instance the speed.

General information
Follow the instructions for cleaning the Head-up display. For additional information, see the chapter on care.

Safety information

Warning
When extending and retracting the projec-tion screen of the Head-up display, body parts can be jammed. There is a risk of in-jury. Make sure that the area of movement of the projection screen is clear when ex-tending and retracting.

NOTICE
The Head-up display consists of sensitive components that can easily be scraped or damaged. There is a risk of damage to property. Do not place any objects on the Head-up display, attach to system compo-nents or plug into the system. Do not move the moving parts manually.

Switching the Head-up display on/off
When switching on, the projection screen of the Head-up display is extended. When switching off, the projection screen of the Head-up display is retracted again.

Overview
The following information is displayed on the Head-up display:

Vehicle speed.
Navigation instructions.
Check Control messages.
Selection list from the instrument clus-ter.
Driver assistance systems.

Some of this information is only displayed briefly as needed.

Selecting displays in the Head-up display
Via the Central Information Display (CID):

Select the desired displays in the Head-up display.

Settings are stored for the driver profile currently used.

Setting the brightness
The brightness is automatically adjusted to the ambient brightness.
The base setting can be adjusted manually. Via the Central Information Display (CID):

Turn the Controller until the desired brightness is set.
Press the Controller.

When the low beams are switched on, the brightness of the Head-up display can be adjusted using the instrument lighting. The setting is stored for the driver profile currently used.

Adjusting the height

Turn the Controller until the desired height is reached.
Press the Controller.

Setting the rotation
The screen of the Head-up display can be rotated around its own axis.

Display visibility
The visibility of the displays in the Head-up display is influenced by the following fac-tors:

Certain seat positions.
Objects on the cover of the Head-up dis-play.
Sunglasses with certain polarization fil-ters.
Wet road.
Unfavorable light conditions.

John Cooper Works: sport dis-plays in the Head-up display

General information
The sport displays in the Head-up display assist with a sporty driving style.

Turning on

With navigation system: if the sport dis-plays are switched on, no navigation con-tent will be displayed on the Head-up dis-play.

Shift lights

Principle
The Shift lights in the Head-up display indi-cates the optimum shift point. Thus, with a sporty driving style, the best possible vehi-cle acceleration is achieved.

Functional requirements

Steptronic Sport transmission: Manual mode M/S and, if necessary Dy-namic Traction Control are activated.
Press the accelerator pedal all the way down.

Display
Successive gray illuminated fields indicate the upcoming shift point.
Upshift immediately when the red fields il-luminate.
When the maximum RPM is reached, the entire display flashes red and the fuel sup-ply is interrupted in order to protect the engine.

The status can be displayed and actions per-formed for several systems.
